Hooters continues to hoot along
In the second game, Hooters continued to roll along, earning their third straight victory by defeating Sport Corner/Titanium 3-2 in a closely-fought contest. Hooters has been on a tear ever since Andy Brine and David Blomquist joined the team.
Paul Stoddart, Michael White and Teerapol “La” Chamnanrattanakul scored for Hooters on the night while John Schachnovsky continued his torrid scoring streak for Sport Corner/Titanium netting a goal and an assist with Mike Wilson added a single tally. Schachnovsky continues to lead SHL scorers with 5 goals and 7 assists. He’s followed by the Hooters Stephen Sproule with 3 goals and 4 assists; Hooters’ Paul Stoddart with 5 goals and one assist; AWARE’s Devin Micheal with 4 goals and 2 assist; and AWARE’s Darren Boodle with 4 goals and 1 assist.
Hooters’ goalie Pattarapol “Dream” Ungkulpattanasuk was the Rolling Stone Pizza player-of-game in the second contest, stopping 17 of the shots fired at him, while Gabor Toth in the Sport Corner/Titanium net stopped 18 shots.
Both Sport Corner/Titanium and Hooters Nana have identical 3-2 records, but Hooters Nana sits atop the SHL with seven points due to the point they earned in an earlier OT loss.
All four teams iced ten players on the night as many of the Thai players in the league had a national team practice they had to attend.
League action continues at “the Rink”, Central Grand Rama 9, on Sunday January 15th with AWARE taking on Hooters at 8:30 and Sukhumvit facing off against Sport Corner/Titanium at 9:30.
(SHL league rules were recently changed so now if a game ends in a tie after regulation time, there will be a 3-on-3 overtime for four minutes, followed by a sudden death shoot-out if still tied).
