We had Zack back with us this week.
In our first game we had Novotel Spitfires going against KCG. With just over five minutes left in the first period, sub Stephen Sproule hit Scotty Murray who scored to the Novotel Spitfires. Thing were pretty quite for both team until the Novotel was called for a hooking penalty late in the second period which KCG capitalized on and Punn Phasukkjwatana found Jan Isaksson who scored with less than a minute left in the second period. The play was back and forth for the third period with neither team able to get past the netminders. Just a minute and a half into the overtime period had the Spitfires’, Christoph Anliker catch Tomas Stastny in the high slot who rifled a snapshot past Liao for the win. The Rolling Sone Pizza Player of the Game went to Christoph for his outstanding offensive and defensive play all night.
In the second game of the night, at 10:00 pm, we had Siam Mandalay going head to head with Aware. At 13:30, Mike Wilson found Siam Mandalay captain, Jordan Ashton, with a pass who scored. Aware kept fighting and with just shy of seven minutes left the first period, Aware’s Masato Kitayama hit super rookie, Roger Promthong with a pass who fired it past Dream Ungkulpattanasuk to tie things up. With just 1:40 left in the first period, Tan Limpinphet scored on Lance Parker after receiving a pass from Turner Johnson to put Siam Mandalay back in the lead with a short handed goal. Both teams fought hard through the second period and most of the third period, until there were two minutes left in the game and Wilson of Siam Mandalay received a pass from Limpinphet to increase their lead to two. With a minute and a half left in the game, Limpinphet scored his second goal of the game with an unassisted goal. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Dream Ungkulpattanasuk for stopping 18 of 19 shorts.
The Jerky Monster Play of the Week went to Tan Limpinphet for his steal and goal to finish the game off.
