Semi-Finals News 2018-2019

What a whirlwind of games we’ve had for the semi-finals. We had two upsets in the semi-finals. The first one was in the games between the #3 TRUE and the #2 Novotel Spitfires. TRUE swept the Novotel Spitfires in this series. In our second series we had #1 Aware going head to head with #4 Hertz. This series went to 3 games but Hertz finished off Aware to advance to the final in a hope of back to back cups.

Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game – Dream Ungkulpattanasuk – Semi-finals Game 3

On March 10, 2019, we had our final game of the semi-finals between Aware and Hertz. You could really see that both teams wanted this win, but in the end, Hertz prevailed and topped Aware 5-3. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Dream Ungkulpattanasuk for stopping 23 of 26 shots on net.

Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game – Phu Suwachirat – Semi-finals Game 2

On March 7th, 2019, in the second game of the night we had Hertz vs TRUE. This was another game that went back and forth and into the 3-on-3 overtime period. In the last second of the overtime period, Phu Suwachirat scored the game winner to tie things up between Aware and Hertz and earned himself the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.

Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game – Jordan Ashton – Semi-finals Game 2

On March 7th, 2019, we had our second games of the semi-finals. In the first game we had TRUE facing off against the Novotel Spitfires. This game went back and forth for all three periods, and was a stalemate in the 3-on-3 overtime period forcing a shootout. Jordan Ashton of TRUE went first, scoring on sub goalie, Gabor Toth and Ken Kindborn of the Spitfires buried the puck in TRUE’s net minder, Lance Parker’s pads. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Jordan Ashton for his game winning goal in the sudden death shootout.

On March 3rd, 2019, we hard our first games of the semi-finals. In our second game of the night we had the Novotel Spitfires going head to head with TRUE. TRUE really controlled this game and won it 5-3. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Jordan Ashton for his two goals on the night.

Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game – Corry Day – Week 17

On February 24th, 2019, we had our last regular season games. In the second game of the night we had the Novotel Spitfires facing off against Hertz. Both teams fought hard in this game but the Novotel Spitfires won the game in the closing seconds of the game. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Corry Day for his two goals and assist on the night.

Revenge is a dish best served cold

Hertz captain Justin St Denis didn’t say that — Pierre Choderlos de Laclos was the one who coined the term — but he might as well have. Hertz THUMPED the Novotel Spitfires 10-2 in week eight of the SHL season as payback for a 9-3 thumping at the hands of Novotel earlier in the year.
Novotel keeper Gabor Toth went from earning the first shutout of the SHL season a week previously with a stand-out performance to playing, well, can we just say that SHL analysts are still searching for a way to describe it.

November 29, 2018

We had a great night of games on November 20, 2018.

In our first game of the night, we had Hertz facing off against Aware. Hertz fought a hard in this game, but Aware won it’s 7th game in a row with a 3-5 victory. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the game went to Ryan “Fire Truck” Yaden for his two goals.

In our second game of the night, we had Novotel Spitfires vs. TRUE. TRUE played well for all three periods, but they just couldn’t find the back of the net and lost to the Spitfires 2-0. Matt Johnson was awarded the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game for his outstanding defensive play.

In our second game of the night, we had Novotel Spitfires going against TRUE. This was another hard fought game between two strong teams, but the Spitfires pulled it out in the end. For his great defensive play in this one, Matt Johnson won the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
