Week 12 News

On February 6, 2020 we had our 12th week of games.

In our first game of the night at 8:30 we had PEAK Biolabs vs Aware. PEAK started things off with John Schachnovsky scoring first three minutes into the first period. Corry Day answered back for Aware three minutes after that. PEAK captain, Harrison Oztemel, in the second period. PEAK scored two more unanswered goals, one from Oztemel and one from Patrick Forstner. Aware did finally put another point on the board when Jari Eerikainen found the back of the net. Schachnovsky sealed the game with a goal with four minutes let in the game, and earning himself the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game with two goals and an assist.

Week 10 News

On January 12, 2020 in our first game of the night, we had the Aware going head to head with Hertz. Aware got a much needed win in this game and totally dominated Hertz in this 6-2 win. Aware had goals from captain, Justin St-Denis, Corry Day, Matt Johnson, David Boere and two by Devin Michael to earn himself the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.

In our second game of the night, at 9:30 we had our number one teams, PEAK Biolabs and the Novotel Spitfires, facing off against each other. Novotel crushed PEAK 6-1 in this one with goals from sub, Tom Price, Brad Wilson, Peam Jaratwuttipreeda, Marcel Bouwens and two from Bill Bredesen. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Novotel’s superstar netminder, Leo Liao for stopping 21 of 22 shots.

Hertz vs PEAK Biolabs Week 9 Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game Jesse Starosta

In our second game of the night we had Hertz vs PEAK Biolabs. Jesse Starosta of PEAK Biolabs started things off quickly in this one by scoring less than a minute into the first period after receiving a pass from PEAK captain, Harrison Oztemel. Tan Limpinphet of Hertz answered back 5 minutes later when he received a pass from Mangkorn Sukwiboon. A minute later saw PEAK take the lead again when Eddie McConnell fired one past Hertz’s net minder Lance Parker. PEAK increased their lead to 2 when Starosta scored his second of the night with eight and a half minutes left in the second period. PEAK added 2 more to their total with goals from Oztemel and Stephen Sproule. Hertz tried to mound a comeback with Darius Konotopetz scoring 2 goals in the third period, but it just wasn’t enough and sub Masato Kitiyama scored an empty netter with just 15 seconds left in the game.

Week 8 News

Week 8 News

Week 8 was on December 1st, 2019. In our first game of the night we had the Novotel Spitfires going head to head with PEAK Biolabs. PEAK started things off 10 minutes into the first period when Elias Bengtsson scored off of an assist from Adam Teodorsson and Ryan Yaden. In the second period, the Spitfires scored 3 goals, one from Bill Bredesen and two from Mike Freeson, to one goal from PEAK by Michael White. The third period saw Freeson get his third goal of the night to give Novotel the win and earn Freeson his second Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game in a row.

Week 4 to Week 7 News

Week 4 was on November 14. In the first game we had Novotel Spitfires vs Aware. Aware totally dominated this game, scoring 4 goals in the first period, one from Devin Michael, one from Matt Johnson and two from Brandon Vick. The Spitfires did score one in the first period, which was by Mike Freeson. Aware scored 2 more goals in the second period, one from Corry Day and a second by Devin Michael. The Spitfires did score two goals in the third period, one from Marcel Bouwens and one from Brad Wilson, but Aware scored one final goal in the third, which was the one to give Vick his hat trick, earning himself the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.

Aware vs Novotel Spitfires Week 2 Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game Masato Kitiyama

In our second game of the night on October 20, 2019, we had Aware facing off against the Novotel Spitfires. Both teams were missing quite a few players from the lineup, and because of this, Aware just couldn’t keep up with the Novotel Spitfires. Novotel came out on top of this one 7-1. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Masato Kitiyama for his outstanding offensive play and getting a goal and an assist.

Hertz vs PEAK Biolabs Week 2 Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game Patrick Forstner

In our first game of the night we had Hertz going head to head with PEAK. With so many players missing from Hertz’s lineup, they just couldn’t keep up with PEAK and PEAK won this one 9-2. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Patrick Forstner for getting a hat-trick on the night.

Revenge is a dish best served cold

Hertz captain Justin St Denis didn’t say that — Pierre Choderlos de Laclos was the one who coined the term — but he might as well have. Hertz THUMPED the Novotel Spitfires 10-2 in week eight of the SHL season as payback for a 9-3 thumping at the hands of Novotel earlier in the year.
Novotel keeper Gabor Toth went from earning the first shutout of the SHL season a week previously with a stand-out performance to playing, well, can we just say that SHL analysts are still searching for a way to describe it.

The Sport Corner Siam Hockey League News Week 5 – December 10-16, 2017

We had some great games on December 14th.

In our first game we had Expedia facing off against Hertz. At the puck drop, Expedia only had 9 skaters and 1 goaltender, and as per the league rules, they were forced to forfeit the game, but the teams decided to play a friendly game, with not stats kept.

This was a high paced game with scoring going back and forth, with Expedia taking an early lead, but Hertz coming back and winning it 8-5 in the end. Carly Hill, the leagues first full time female skater, scored her first career goal of the Sport Corner Siam Hockey League and also notched up an assist, giving her the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.

In our second game of the night, we had the Sukhumvit Spitfires going head to head with Aware. Aware scored the first goal of the night , and maintained their lead throughout the night. Juiz Lertitsiri, sub netminder for Aware, stopped 27 of 29 shots, earning him the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.
