SHL News Week 16

This week, Zack and Dom are joined in the studio by Aware’s goaltender, Lance Parker.

On March 28th, 2021 in our first game of the night at 9:00 pm, we had Novotel Spitfires vs Siam Mandalay. Novotel looked on form, when seven minutes, Seb Verdy scored a short handed goal. Siam Mandalay answered right back when Mitchel Morrison put one past Ben Kleineschay. Siam Mandalay scored two more unanswered goals in the first period, one by Win Khuhakaew and one by Mike Wilson. Early in the second period, Siam Mandalay scored their fourth unanswered goal, which was by Darius Konotopetz. The Spitfires did try to mount a comeback with Ken Kindborn scoring with just under eight minutes left in the second period, but Siam Mandalay just kept rolling and captain Jordan Ashton found the back of the net. Early in the third period, Siam Mandalay’s Homme Thaiyanont scored an unassisted goal, but Novotel wasn’t finished yet and they scored two goals, both from Major Ingkharratphithakon, but with just over thirty seconds left in the game, Siam Mandalay scored an empty netter to finish things off. The final score was Novotel Spitfires 4 – Siam Mandalay 7.

Aware vs KCG November 15: 2020 – Rolling Stone Pizza PoG Leo Liao

On November 11, at 10:00 in our second game of the night, we had Aware facing off against KCG. KCG started things off with two goals in the first period, one by Winnie Luckanatinakorn and one by Michael White. In the second period, KCG increased their lead to three when Jari Eerikainen scored on Lance Parker. Early in the third period, Winnie Luckanatinakorn scored his second of the night. With just over seven minutes left to play, Aware finally get on the board when Roman Larin scored on Leo Liao. Jan Isaksson of KCG finished off the night with a goal with just four seconds left in the game. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Leo Liao for stopping 28 of 29 shots.

SHL News Week 5

On November 15, 2020 at 9:00 pm we had Novotel Spitfires vs Siam Mandalay. Siam Mandalay started things off when Turner Johnson scored off of a pass from Alex Phelps just under three minutes into the start of the game. Less than a minute into the second period, Yean Thankroekkiat hit Johnson with a pass who split the Novotel Spitfires’ defense and hit captain, Jordan Ashton with a back hand pass who fired one past Ben Kleineschay to put Siam Mandalay up by two goals. About seven minutes into the third period, Novotel Spitfires captain, Mike Freeson received a pass from Ken Kindborn to put Novotel on the board, with the second assist coming from Tomas Stastny. With just two minutes left in the game, Kindborn tried things up for Novotel Spitfires with the assist coming from Stastny. With just ten seconds left the game, Freeson scores the game winning goal with the assist coming from Mangkorn Sukwiboon. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the game went to Ben Kkeineshcay for his outstanding play between the pipes.

Novotel Spitfires vs Hertz Semifinal Game 2 Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game Leo Liao

In our second playoff game between the Novotel Spitfires and Hertz, we were hoping Hertz would come out and be able to handle the physical play of the Novotel Spitfires, but the Spitfires proved to be too much for them. Novotel had goals from Marcel Bouwens, captain Brad Wilson and a hat trick from Mike Freeson. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Leo Liao for stopping all 32 shots in this one.

PEAK Biolabs vs Novotel Spitfires Week 10 Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game Leo Liao

On January 12, 2020, in our second game of the night at 9:30 we had our number one teams, PEAK Biolabs and the Novotel Spitfires going head to head. Novotel totally dominated this game winning 6-1. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went the super star netminder, Leo Liao for stopping 21 of 22 shots.

Novotel Spitfires vs Hertz Week 6 Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game Leo Liao

On November 21st, 2019, in our first game of the night, we had Novotel Spitfires going head to head with Hertz. Novotel took an early lead, scoring two unanswered goals in the first period, then scored their third unanswered goal early in the second period. Hertz tried to make a comeback, scoring a goal in the second period and their second early in the third, but they just couldn’t get any more past the sharp rookie Spitfires netminder to give Novotel Spitfires a 3-2 win. Novotel’s goalie, Leo Liao earned himself the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game by stopping 24 of 26 shots.
