SHL News Week 12

In our first game of the night, we had Novotel Spitfires going head to head with Siam Mandalay. This was a game of catchup all night for Siam Mandalay. In the first period, the Novotel Spitfires took an early lead with goals by Major Ingkharratphithakon and Ken Kindborn. Siam Mandalay tied things up with goals by Turner Johnson and Darius Konotopetz. In the second period, Novotel Spitfires again took the lead with goals by Christoph Anliker and Sen Verdy. Siam Mandalay tied things up again with goals by Konotopetz and Win Khuakeaw. In the third period, the Spitfires took the lead for the third time with two goals by Tomas Stastny and a goal by Mangkorn Sukwiboon. Siam Mandalay tried to do it for a third time with a second goal by Johnson, but there just wasn’t enough gas in the tank for them. The final score was Novotel Spitfires 7 Siam Mandalay 5.

Novotel Spitfires vs Siam Mandalay February 28, 2021 – Rolling Stone Pizza PoG Mangkorn Sukwiboon

In our first game of the night, at 9:00 pm, we had Novotel Spitfires going against Siam Mandalay. This was a back and forth game with the Spitfires taking an early lead with goals by Major Ingkharratphithakon and Ken Kindborn. Siam Mandalay fought back tying things up with goals by Turner Johnson and Darius Konotopetz. In the second period, Novotel took the lead again with a goal by Christoph Anliker. Siam Mandalay tied it up again when Konotopetz scored his second of the night. Late in the second period, Sen Verdy put the Spitfires back in the lead but Win Kruhakeaw tied it up again for Siam Mandalay. The Spitfires took the lead for the third time that night with two goals by Tomas Stastny and a from Mangkorn Sukwiboon. Siam Mandalay’s Johnson did score one more goal, but there just wasn’t enough juice in the tank for them to tie it up again and the final score was Novotel Spitfires 7 Siam Mandalay 5.

SHL News Week 11

We’ve just finished off the eleventh week of the SHL.

In our first game of the night, we had KCG going head to head with Siam Mandalay. This was really a game physical play vs a game of skill play. At the end of the first period, the score was tied one-one with a goal by Ernesto Bauer for Siam Mandalay and a goal by Jan Isaksson for KCG. In the second period, Siam Mandalay took the lead and increased it to two with both goals coming from Turner Johnson. Early in the third period, Siam Mandalay increased their lead to three with a goal by Darius Konotopetz. With just over five minutes left in the third period, it was like Siam Mandalay just ran out of gas and KCG’s Jan Isaksson scored, followed by a goal from Peam Jaratwuttipreada. Isaksson tied things up with just over two minutes left in the game and Patrick Forstner getting the game winning goal with less than thirty seconds left in the game.

SHL News Week 9

Zack couldn’t make it to this recording, but Juhani Ijas joined Dom in the studio for this episode.

In our first game of the night we had the Novotel Spitfires facing off against Aware. Novotel are coming off of a tough loss while Aware are coming off a huge win. This could have been the moment to turn things around for Aware, but sadly, they allowed three goals in the opening period. One goal by Novotel Spitfires captain, Mike Freeson, one goal by Ken Kindborn and one goal by Mangkorn Sukwiboon. Aware attempted a comeback and started off with a goal in the second period by Masato Kitayama, and followed that up with a goal in the third period by Roman Larin. It just wasn’t enough and Freeson scored his second of the night midway through the third period to halt Aware’s comeback, earning himself the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.

Novotel Spitfires vs Aware February 07, 2021 – Rolling Stone Pizza PoG Mike Freeson

In our first game of the night, we had the Novotel Spitfires going against Aware. Novotel starting things off scoring three goals in the first period, one from Mike Freeson, Ken Kindborn and Mangkorn Sukwiboon. Aware finally got on the board in the second period with a goal from Masato Kitayama. Early in the third period, Aware brought it within one goal when Roman Larin. Freeson stopped the comeback when he scored his second of the night, earning himself the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game.

Aware vs Novotel Spitfires November 15, 2020 – Rolling Stone Pizza PoG Mike Freeson

In our second game of the night, at 10:00 pm, we had Aware facing off against the Novotel Spitfires. Things were pretty back and forth in the first period with neither team getting many scoring opportunities. The Novotel Spitfires scored two goals early in the second period. The first from Major Ingkharratphithakon, and the second from their captain, Mike Freeson. Early in the third period, John Schachnovsky put Aware on the board with a shot the bounced off of the Spitfires netminder, Lance Parker. Freeson increased Novotel’s lead to two again when he scored an unassisted goal in the middle of the third period. Aware tied things up with a goal by Roger Promthong and Roman Larin. With just 45 seconds left in the game, Ken Kindborn of the Novotel Spitfires scored an unassisted goal for the win. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Mike Freeson for his two goals.

Novotel Spitfires vs KCG November 01, 2020 – Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the game Ben Kleineschay

In our first game of the night, on November 01, 2020 at 9:00 pm, we had Novotel Spitfires vs KCG. The battle for first place. Both teams had a record of 2-0 going into this game. The first period of this one was very back and forth with neither team getting many scoring opportunities. Early in the second period, Novotel’s captain, Mike Freeson, finally got one past Leo Liao to start things off. Things stayed at 1-0 until late in the second period when KCG took a high sticking penalty and the Spitfires took advantage with a goal by Scott Murray to put them up 2-0. Early in the second period, KCG got on the board when new player, Jan Isaksson scored on Ben Kleineschay. The game got even closer when there was a minute left in the game, KCG pulled their goalie and tied things up at 2. Unfortunately for KCG, Novotel’s Tomas Stastny received a pass from Freeson and found the back of the net to finish off the game 3-2.

SHL News Week 3

This week we were expecting some really exciting games, and we weren’t disappointed.

In our first game we had the two undefeated teams going head to head, Novotel Spitfires vs KCG. The first period saw things really go back and forth with neither team really able to take advantage. Early in the second period, Novotel’s captain, Mike Freeson put the puck past Leo Liao. Things stayed stuck locked down at 1-0 until late in the second period, KCG took a high sticking penalty, which led to Scott Murray, of the Spitfires, scoring a power play goal to give them a 2-0 lead. Early in the third period, KCG finally get on the board with a goal by Jan Isaksson. With just over a minute left in the game, KCG pulled their netminder to give them an extra attacker and with one minute left in the game, KCG tied things up when Jari Eerikainen got one past Ben Kleineschay. Just ten seconds later, Ken Kindborn hit Mike Freeson who then found Tomas Stastny who buried the puck for the win. The rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Ben Kleineschay for his outstanding play between the pipes.

Siam Mandalay vs Novotel October 25, 2020 – Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the game Tomas Stastny

In our second game of the night on October 25, 2020 at 22:00, we had Siam Mandalay facing off against the Novotel Spitfires. Novotel started things off when Tomas Stastny scored the only goal in the first period. Stastny scored his second goal early in the second period to give the Spitfires a 2-0 lead. Late in the second period, Siam Mandalay tied things up late in the second period. Early in the third, Siam Mandalay took the lead early in the third period with a goal by Tan Limpinphet, but less than a minute later, Novotel tied things up with a goal by Mangkorn Sukwiboon. Stastny scored the game winner with just over 4 minutes left, making it a hat trick night for him and earning the Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game award.

SHL Week 2 News

In our first game of the night, we had Aware vs KCG. Aware came out strong and were leading half way through the second period 2-0. Then KCG came back and scored 3 goals before the end of the period. Aware scored one more in the 3 period, but KCG continued with their domination and scored another 3 goals. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to KCG captain, Harrison Oztemel for getting a hat trick on the night.

In our second game of the night, we had Siam Mandalay facing off against the Novotel Spitfires. Novotel started things off with a goal by Stastny, and scored a second in the second period, but Siam Mandalay came back scoring two goals of their own in the second period to tie things up. The third period had Siam Mandalay scoring one goal to the Spitfires 2 goals, giving the Novotel Spitfires the win. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Tomas Stastny for his hat trick in this one.
