Dom and Zack talk about semifinal games 2 and 3 and what they expect from the final game.
PEAK Biolabs and Aware went all three games. PEAK started things off with a goal from Ryan Yaden and a goal from Patrick Forstner. Aware finally got on the board in the second period with a goal by Seb Verdy, but PEAK again increased their lead to two when Stephen Sproule found the back of the net. Matt Johnson of Aware scored Aware’s second goal, but PEAK scored two more, a second from Forstner and an empty netter from Michael White. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Ryan Yaden for his goal and assist and great offensive play all night.
In our second playoff game between the Novotel Spitfires and Hertz, we were hoping Hertz would come out and be able to handle the physical play of the Novotel Spitfires, but the Spitfires proved to be too much for them. Novotel had goals from Marcel Bouwens, captain Brad Wilson and a hat trick from Mike Freeson. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Leo Liao for stopping all 32 shots in this one.
In the second game of this series between PEAK Biolabs and Aware, Scott Murray of Aware scored first six minutes into the first period. PEAK came back in the second period with goals by Yean Thanakroekkiat and John Schachnovsky. Aware tied things up with a goal by Adrian Meyers, but late in the third had Thanakroekkiat scoring his second and Michael White getting an empty netter to finish things off. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Yean Thanakroekkiat for his two goals excellent defensive play all night.
Zack is back in the studio after over a year away, but he has been busy with helping out ThailandTV.TV and broadcasting the SHL games live.
We had some fast paced games in game one and some interesting results.
In game one of the best of three series between PEAK Biolabs and Aware, PEAK came out strong, setting an SHL record by scoring a goal 10 seconds into the game. PEAK just couldn’t hold on though and Aware fought back winning the game 4-3. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Adrian Meyers for his offensive and defensive play all night.
In the first game of this semifinal matchup, the Novotel Spitfires came out ready to play. They played a physical game and really took it to Hertz. Hertz just couldn’t compete in game one. The rolling Stone pIzza Player of the Game went to Novotel Spitfires captain, Brad Wilson for his three points and great defensive play.
On February 27, 2020 in our second game of the night, at 9:30 we had PEAK Biolabs going head to head with the Novotel Spitfires. PEAK took a 3-0 lead with goals by Punn Hasukkjwatana, Christian Olofsson and Eddie McConnell. Novotel did finally get on the board, early in the second period with a goal by Winnie Luckanatinakorn. PEAK added two more goals to their total with goals by Stephen Sproule and John Schachnovsky. McConnell added a second goal early in the third period, and the Spitfires did get a second goal when Marcel Bouwens found the back of the net. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Eddie McConnell for his two goals and assist on the night.
On February 27, 2020, in our first game of the night at 8:30 we had Aware vs Hertz. Hertz took an early lead scoring two goals in the first period. The first goal by Tan Limpinphet and the second by Darius Konotopetz. Hertz increased their lead to three when Andrew Shutsa scored. Aware moved to within one with a goal by Brandon Vick and a goal by Justin St-Denis. Less than a minute after St-Denis’ goal, Hertz increased their lead to two again when Limpinphet scored his second of the night. Aware tied things up with goals by Vick and Devin Michael. Hertz took the lead one more time when Mangkorn Sukwiboon scored. Aware tied things up again when St-Denis scored with just over two minutes left in the game. With 45 seconds remaining, Aware’s Corry Day scored the game winner. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Brandon Vick for two goals and three assists.
On February 23, 2020 in our second game of the night at 9:30 pm we had Hertz going head to head with PEAK Biolabs. Less than 7 minutes into the first period, Hertz scored the first goal of the night, which was by captain, Jordan Ashton. Less than 2 minutes into the second period had Mike Wilson of Hertz scoring the second and last goal of the night. Hertz’s netminder put in an amazing performance getting this season’s first shutout in this 2-0, earning himself the Rolling Stone Pizza player of the Game.
