SHL News Week 10

We had Zack back with us this week.

In our first game we had Novotel Spitfires going against KCG. With just over five minutes left in the first period, sub Stephen Sproule hit Scotty Murray who scored to the Novotel Spitfires. Thing were pretty quite for both team until the Novotel was called for a hooking penalty late in the second period which KCG capitalized on and Punn Phasukkjwatana found Jan Isaksson who scored with less than a minute left in the second period. The play was back and forth for the third period with neither team able to get past the netminders. Just a minute and a half into the overtime period had the Spitfires’, Christoph Anliker catch Tomas Stastny in the high slot who rifled a snapshot past Liao for the win. The Rolling Sone Pizza Player of the Game went to Christoph for his outstanding offensive and defensive play all night.

The Sport Corner Siam Hockey League News Week 9 – January 21-27, 2018

Our 9th week of games started off on January 21st.

In our first game we had Aware facing off against Hertz. Hertz did a great job of keeping the game close by only allowing 1 goal in the first period and 2 more by the end of the second period. Early in the third period saw Hertz really fighting to try and make a come back an scoring 2 goals, but Aware were just 2 much for them, scoring 4 more goals in the third period to finish the game 7-2. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Ollie Moyse.

Our second game fo the night had the Sukhumvit Spitfires going head to head with Expedia. We saw the game tied at the end of the first period 1-1. The second period saw the Spitfires take the lead by 2 goals to make it 3-1. The third period saw both teams score one more goal a piece, to finish it off Spitfires 4, Expedia 2. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Tan Limpinphet for his goal and assist.

Our second night of games was January 25, 2018. In our first game of the night at 8:30, we had Expedia going head to head with Hertz. These 2 teams have faced each other 4 times with each team winning 2 games. The end of the first period saw Expedia up 2-1. The second period saw Juhani Ijas of Expedia scoring his second of the night, as well as Sebastien Ranger of Hertz scoring one with Expedia still leading 3-2. The third period saw lots of action with Expedia scoring 2 more and Juhani getting a hat-trick and Hertz scoring 4 goals to win this one 6-5. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to captain, Justin St. Denis for his 2 goals and great play at both ends of the rink.

In our second game of the night we has Aware facing off against the Sukhumvit Spitfires. The Spitfires drew first blood with a goal 5 minutes in, but they couldn’t answer Aware who scored 4 unanswered goals in the first period. The second period saw Aware scoring 1 more and the Spitfires scoring 3 goals to bring them within 1. The final period saw Aware seal the Spitfires fate scoring 2 more goals to finish things off 7-4. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Corry Day for netting a hat-trick.

In our second game of the night, we had the Sukhumvit Spitfires vs Expedia. This game saw a hard fought battle between these 2 teams, and they were tied at the end of the first period. The second period saw the Spitfires score 2 goals and prevented Expedia from scoring any. The third period saw the Spitfires score it’s fourth goal fo the night, and with just 1 second left in the game, Expedia scored their second. The Rolling Stone Pizza Player of the Game went to Tan Limpinphet for his goal and assist.
