Forfeit & Christmas Party

Dear All,

In our first game between Expedia and Hertz, Expedia was unfortunately unable to put 10 skaters on the ice at the time of the puck drop.  As per rule 6.5 – Defaulted Games:

Teams are expected to be ready to play at the scheduled start time. A minimum of 10 skaters and 1 goaltender are required to start a game. If the team fails to have 10 skaters and 1 goalie by the scheduled opening faceoff, the game will be forfeited. The team with the required number of players will receive points for a 1–0 win. The game will still be played, but a 1-0 win is recorded. Forfeited games will not be re-scheduled.

Hertz takes the win with a score of 1-0 going into the books.  A friendly game was played between Expedia and Hertz, but no scores were kept.

The league would like to remind all players that the SHL has a large number of substitute players that look forward to playing when they get an opportunity.  We hope no full-time players have to miss any games, however we know life sometimes forces players to miss games.  With the large number of quality substitute players available, we should never have to force one team to forfeit a league game.  The league would like to reiterate that good communication between players and their captains will be the one and only way for the league to avoid the unfortunate incident we saw last night.  We have now had two forfeits this season, and we want to avoid any more for the rest of the season.  So, please advise your captain of your status, and if that changes at any time, please immediately notify your captain, so he can secure a substitute player.

In our second, better bit of news, this evening, December 15, starting at 7:00 p.m. (19:00) our Platinum sponsor, The Sport Corner will be having their Christmas party at The Sport Corner.  There will be food and at 8:00 p.m. (20:00) there will be a live band.
